When your a wedding photographer in Bend, the opportunities for epic engagement pictures are endless. Surrounded by mountains, lakes, rock structures, and a diverse landscape, Central Oregon is the place to be for a variety of backdrops for photoshoots. These two chose to have their romantic and playful engagement photos at Sparks Lake and we had a blast playing around the snowy shores and exploring huge rocks around the lake. They drove from Eugene to have their engagement pictures in Bend and once we met in person, our short hellos were interrupted by all of us saying “I’m sorry but I really have to pee!” (Long car rides, you get it.) Which set the tone for the entire day because we DID NOT STOP LAUGHING. We seriously had a blast and am thankful for my two new clients turned friends. As a self-proclaimed inclusive photographer of all love, when I get the opportunity to document a unique love story, I AM STOKED, and I take my job seriously. Capturing people as they are, not how society tells them they should be, is my brand and what I love most about my job. These two girls have had one hell of a ride fighting for their love and when they asked me to be their wedding photographer for their same sex wedding next summer, I was honored. During their engagement session, they shared the problems they have faced being a gay couple and how they have navigated pretty frustrating circumstances to come out on top and ready to declare their forever commitment to each other in front of their families and friends at their summer wedding in Eugene, Oregon next year. To my new friends, thank you for trusting me and for sharing your story with me. To photographers, please remember our job is so much more than snapping our camera. We are here to tell the truth and serve our clients by telling their story as it is.
